Anybody know or heard of CJM furniture refinishing on St Croix?
A well-known rental mgmt company on Stx withheld $500 of our deposit after we moved --pending the cost to repair a water ring on a table. While I might have argued that a water ring on a wood table in rental condo in the VI is standard wear and tear, I didn't argue.
7 months later I was sent an invoice with the initials "CJM" refinishing but no address or contact info. Looks homemade, and now includes refinishing a dresser and end table (which as you can imagine I also take issue with). Total invoice: exactly $500.
By rental contract, they were supposed to settle any outstanding charges and return our remaining deposit within 60 days, but they took 7 months.
If finding low priced car insurance is an inconvenience you?re facing, consider going on line. There you can find several quotes which may be suitable to your needs. The good thing is that it is possible to dispense with the terms and phrases that aren?t suitable to your insurance requirements. And then you may also acquire some of these customised as what you feel might excel for you. At the same time, there are some methods and means where you can lessen your insurance premiums.Shopping around for quotes wouldn?t only give you more choices to think about but additionally a much better concept of what you?re looking for. Different businesses can have different rates, and by finding the best suited deal, you can save countless pounds by bargaining for rates according to what you need but at the same time, saving your self from a needless costly deal. There are some approved techniques to hit on greater insurance discounts. safe driver if you?re seen, there certainly are additional chances to be considered for cheaper bargains, because the insurance companies should have faith your chances of having to create insurance claims is significantly lesser. Give as many details as you are able to with documentary proof. This assists in accumulating your credibility. One another good thing to consider is to raise your deductible volume which may cause lower quality. At the same time, you could consider various other economic copies as and when you require, to create up for the deductible. Installing anti-theft units such as for example car-alarms or some sort of safety tracking method in your car, helps you get discount from insurance companies, since it again works to improve upon your report as somebody safe along with his car.Insurance is, in reality, all about the total amount of risk you?re ready to defend against. Obviously, the lesser the danger, the lesser to guard against. Exactly the same relates to Car Insurance as well.

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Max Thieriot, Gil Bellows, Elisabeth Shue, and Eva Link
As I have said before in prior reviews of horror flicks, Jason, Freddy and Michael Myers do not scare me.? However, the depiction of truly insane people freaks me out.? Any time I see a female walking around in white pajamas with hair in her face and one crazy eye showing, I?m ready to run for the border.? Call it The Ring effect.? House at the End of the Street involves that kind of insanity, and I found it enjoyably disturbing.
House at the End of the Street is the story of Elissa Cassidy (Jennifer Lawrence).? Elissa just moved from Chicago to a new small town with her mom Sarah (Elisabeth Shue).?? They are able to rent a huge house because a gruesome double murder occurred in the neighboring house.? Awhile back, a family lived in the home with their daughter Carrie Ann (Eva Link).?? Carrie Ann brutally murdered her mother and father one night and escaped into the woods.? The police believe that she drowned, but her body was never found. The urban legend around town is that she is alive, and roaming the forest.
Elissa is curious about the house and the family?s story.? She is even more intrigued when she meets Ryan Jacobson (Max Thieriot), the sole survivor of the family tragedy.? Max was living with another family member at the time of the tragedy and he moved back to the family home when his family died so that he could feel close to them.? Elissa is not impressed by the snobs at her new school and Max seems sad, sweet and alone.? Much to her mother?s dismay she befriends Max and they develop a relationship.? All is going well, until secrets start to unravel and Elissa is dragged deep into the horror of the Jacobsen family.
House at the End of the Street is entertaining.? Jennifer Lawrence brings a bit of Katniss Everdeen to the role and is a tough heroine.? Elisabeth Shue also does well as the mom in this film.? (Although I could not stop thinking about Adventures in Babysitting every time I saw her).? Director Mark Tonderai definitely builds the suspense throughout the film and gives viewers just enough story and chills to keep you engaged throughout the film. True horror junkies who want to see a lot of blood and gore will not find that in this film; but there are some scenes that may make you jump in your seat.
Unfortunately, House at The End of the Street has the same pitfalls that many horror films do.? The heroine does incredibly stupid things like wandering around abandoned woods in the middle of the night, opening her door when she hears a strange noise outside, and going into dark basements in a house where a double murder occurred.? Who does that?? It is the sort of stuff that makes you want to hurl popcorn at the screen in incredulous disbelief.? In addition, there are some points of the film?s plot that I?m still struggling to understand and are frankly inexplicable.? Finally, the plot of House at the End of the Street is reminiscent of another incredibly popular horror film.? I won?t name the film because I think it will give too much away.? But in that respect, I?m sure that fans of the genre may see it as just a ripoff.
In any event, I thought the film had enough twists and turns to keep me engaged.? I give House a 0.06% rating and recommend tossing back a Corona with this one.

Most of Friday seemed like another day in the Fed rally until stocks slipped in the late afternoon.?Stocks are still much higher than might be expected for such a morose economy.

Stocks have been pushing higher for weeks, not because investors think the economy is healed but because of expectations, then confirmation, that the Federal Reserve would step in and try to fix it.
Most of Friday seemed like another day in the Fed rally, which began in earnest early this month, until stocks slipped in the late afternoon. The Dow Jones industrial average rose as much as 50 points before falling into the red in the last half-hour of trading. It's just the fourth day in September that the Dow hasn't managed a gain.
Still, the declines were small. The Dow lost 17.46 points, or 0.1 percent, to 13,579.47. The Standard & Poor's 500 fell in the final minutes of trading, closing down a minuscule 0.11 point, or 0.01 percent, to 1,460.15.
The other main index, the Nasdaq composite, rose four points, or 0.1 percent, to 3,179.96.
Despite the Friday blip, stocks are still much higher than might be expected for such a morose economy. This month, the Dow and the S&P started trading at levels not seen since December 2007, nine months before the fall of Lehman Brothers investment bank. Since the start of June, the Dow has popped nearly 1,200 points.
But the stock market's party mode doesn't mean the underlying economy is healed ? far from it. The summer rally is mostly the result of vows by the Federal Reserve and other central banks, like the Bank of Japan and the European Central Bank, to do more to try to help.
But the promises are also an unsettling reminder: The central banks think the economy is so bad that it can't bounce back on its own.
"It's just a big illusion," said Bob Phillips, managing partner at Spectrum Management Group in Indianapolis. The economy, he said, is still a "no man's land" plagued by high unemployment and slow growth.
The signs were obvious Friday: The Labor Department reported that the unemployment rate rose in 26 states last month. The World Trade Organization cut its estimates for growth in global trade for this year and next.
In Europe, Spain was reportedly close to asking for a bailout from Europe. The finance minister of Germany, which has paid for much of the previous bailouts, shot back that Spain doesn't need it.
It's all a reminder that there's only so much the Fed can do. It can't fix the fiscal cliff facing the U.S. government, the higher taxes and government spending cuts that take effect next year unless Congress acts. Others worry that the Fed has used up all the tricks that have previously fueled the stock market.
Phillips said he's worried about "a nasty correction at the first hint of any less-than-stellar news."
Timothy Leach, chief investment officer for U.S. Bank wealth management in San Francisco, said central banks are buying time more than fixing underlying problems.
"But at least they're taking some of the pressure off," Leach added, "allowing policymakers some additional time to try to achieve those real solutions."
Other big moves on the market:
?The price of gold briefly hit a high for 2012 on the news that Spain might get extra bailout funds. Such rescue packages can often cause inflation, and many investors buy gold as a hedge against inflation
?Homebuilder KB Home swung to a quarterly profit by selling pricier homes. KB Home's stock jumped $2.15, or more than 16 percent, to $15.26.
? Darden Restaurants, parent of Olive Garden and Red Lobster, reported a higher quarterly profit. The stock rose $2.49, or more than 4 percent, to $57.21.

LONDON (AP) ? Hours after a British soldier in Afghanistan told medics she was suffering from stomach pains, the Royal Artillery gunner unexpectedly gave birth to a boy ? the first child ever born to a member of Britain's armed forces in combat.
Britain's defense ministry said Thursday the soldier told authorities she had not been aware she was pregnant and only consulted doctors on the day that she went into labor.
The soldier, who arrived in Afghanistan in March, delivered the child Tuesday at Camp Bastion, the vast desert camp in southern Afghanistan's Helmand province where Prince Harry is deployed and a Taliban attack last week killed two U.S. Marines.
"Mother and baby are both in a stable condition in the hospital and are receiving the best possible care," the ministry said in a statement. It said a team of doctors would fly out to Afghanistan in the coming days to help the soldier and her son return safely to Britain.
The U.K. does not allow female soldiers to deploy on operation if they are pregnant. Although the soldier's child was conceived before her tour of duty began in March, she is not likely to face censure. Britain has sent female soldiers home from wars after they became pregnant ? including about 60 from Afghanistan ? but hasn't previously had a servicewoman go into labor in a war zone.
In 2009, the U.S. military in Iraq issued a policy that could punish soldiers who became pregnant there and their sexual partners ? then quickly rescinded it after a storm of criticism.
The British soldier, a citizen of Fiji, is one of about 500 British military women serving in Afghanistan. She is also among around 2,000 Fijians who serve in the British military, even though the country became independent from Britain in 1970.
Camp Bastion, which hosts the U.S. Camp Leatherneck, is home to most of Britain's 9,500 soldiers in Afghanistan, including Prince Harry ? who arrived there earlier this month to serve as an attack helicopter gunner. Last Friday, a Taliban assault on the base ended up with two U.S. marines killed and six American fighter jets destroyed.
Maj. Charles Heyman, a retired officer and author of "'The British Army Guide" said the unexpected birth would cause some concern at the base.
"This sort of thing makes life difficult for everyone else, but the important thing is the welfare of the female soldier. This could have gone wrong and we don't know if the attack on Camp Bastion might have forced the birth," said Maj. Charles Heyman, a retired officer and author of "'The British Army Guide."
Heyman said it may have been "that the excitement of the tour masked the symptoms of the pregnancy."
Belinda Phipps, chief executive of the National Childbirth Trust, a British parenting charity, also suggested the soldier's demanding work could explain why she either didn't know she was pregnant, or had attempted to ignore the signs.
"It could be that she was so very focused on other things, and because she was in a life-or-death scenario, that she simply didn't recognize that she was pregnant," Phipps said.
Phipps said the pregnancy may not have been obvious to the soldier's colleagues. "Not everyone has a very big baby bump, some women carry their baby far inside," she said.
Patrick O'Brien, a consultant obstetrician at University College London Hospital, said cases of unnoticed pregnancies were unusual, but that he encountered at least one each year.
"There are some women who have very irregular periods, often women who are very fit and exercise a lot. There are women who don't have sickness during pregnancy. Some women ? particularly those who are overweight ? don't recognize they have put on weight, or feel the baby moving," O'Brien said.
Many cases involved women who refused to accept that they were pregnant and attempted to disguise it, particularly young women living at home.
"It's not just that they hide the pregnancy from their parents, they often become in denial of the pregnancy," he said.
"If you have a combination of any or all of those things, a pregnancy can go undetected, or the woman can be in denial of it if the implications to their life are so great," said O'Brien, a spokesman for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist.
A study published in 2011 by Glasgow's Victoria Infirmary said that denial of pregnancy was more common than expected, suggesting it occurred in around 1 in 2,500 births.
In a 2002 German survey of Berlin obstetric hospitals, researchers found that 40 percent of women who didn't realize they were pregnant had seen doctors who also failed to spot the signs.
